Haywood Community College operates under the open door policy of the North Carolina Community College System. Students are accepted without regard to race, religion, sex, color, creed, national origin, age, or disability. Any person who is at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate or the equivalent, may be accepted by the College. High school students and home schooled applicants 16 years of age or older may be admitted into credit and continuing education courses in accordance with the dual enrollment policies adopted by the state of North Carolina.
Mission and Purpose Statement
HCC’s Enrollment Management office serves prospective and current students and alumni by providing enrollment services and by maintaining secure, accurate student records that are in compliance with SACS, local, state and federal guidelines. The Enrollment Management office continuously demonstrates the College’s CORE values in all we do. In support of Haywood Community College’s mission, the HCC Enrollment Management staff:
- Administer and enforce college admission requirements and procedures as directed by North Carolina Community College System and in accordance with the North Carolina General Statutes and the Administrative Code.
- Address the needs and meet expectations of prospective students as they complete the enrollment process.
- Administer and enforce academic eligibility procedures (e.g. graduation, honors, dean’s list, academic probation, academic suspension, academic forgiveness, etc.)
- Develop and administer an enrollment management plan.
- Provide students accepted for enrollment with vital college information (college catalog/handbook).
- Provide registration process information for students enrolling in courses each semester (tabloid and on the web).
- Maintain student record database and digitally archived files.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of student records are maintained throughout the college in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines.
- Certify student enrollment as required (e.g. insurance verification, student loans, rehabilitation services, etc.).
- Provide reports as required (class rosters, 10% reports, grade rosters, state and federal college reports, etc.).
- Prepare statistical reports (e.g. enrollment reports, enrollment statistics, graduation rates, etc.).
- Prepare and distribute diplomas upon student completion.
- Coordinate the arrangements for commencement exercises.

- Enrollment plan developed and implemented.
- Increased student opportunities through enrollment growth.
- Faculty advisors are provided with the skills necessary to locate information within Datatel to successfully advise students.
- Students understand and use registration information and procedures to enhance student responsibility and encourage student participation in early registration.
- Organizational structure provides effective and efficient enrollment services in meeting students' needs for both Curriculum and Continuing Education.
