Enrollment Requirements

Admission to a degree program requires a high school diploma or the equivalent. Applicants who do not meet this requirement are referred to the Adult Basic Skills program for appropriate testing and placement.

Admission to the College does not guarantee immediate admission to the curriculum desired by the applicant. Some programs have additional specific admission requirements. Admission to associate and diploma degree programs require a high school diploma or the equivalent and HCC’s placement test or SAT/ACT score requirements or satisfactory transfer of English/mathematics/algebra credits. Students are exempt from taking the placement test if they have recorded SAT scores of 500 or higher on each section -verbal and math- or a composite ACT score of 21 or higher. Admission to a certificate program only requires submitting an application. Students who interrupt their course of study must reapply. The Director of Enrollment Management administers all admission requirements, policies, and procedures.

Note:

  • Certificate programs do not require a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Accepted applicants for Nursing and Medical Assisting and certain other associate programs must complete additional enrollment requirements such as medical forms and certain other programs require a departmental interview form.
  • If transcripts cannot be obtained due to extenuating circumstances (loss by fire, school no longer exists, etc.) documentation of all efforts made by the student and a letter of explanation regarding the circumstances must be submitted to the Director of Enrollment Management.
  • Fax copies of transcripts are not considered to be official transcripts. Acceptance to HCC is conditional until receipt of official transcripts.
