Inclement Weather Policy

The College will close when weather conditions are such that driving is hazardous. For information regarding inclement weather, you may call the Inclement Weather Information Hotline at (828) 627-4517. The following procedure will be observed for inclement weather:

Announcements

Announcements concerning college operation will be made by 6:00 a.m. on the local TV stations listed below, local radio stations, and the HCC website.

If it appears that ice or snow may be cleared by mid-morning, the 10:00 a.m. schedule listed below will be followed, and all College personnel and students should report by 10:00 a.m.

HCC may have classes even when the Haywood County Public Schools are canceled.

Early Dismissal

When weather conditions dictate early dismissal of day classes, the announcement will be made to each class and on the local radio stations.

Evening Classes

Announcements will be made on the local radio stations no later than 3:00 p.m. concerning the closing of evening programs. Each evening class will be notified of early dismissal due to inclement weather.

College Closed

Extremely hazardous conditions; no one reports to work or class.

Classes Canceled

College remains open; staff reports at 10:00 a.m.

Delayed Schedule

Class schedule begins at 10:00 a.m. Everyone reports at 10:00 a.m.
