How did your degree program at Haywood Community College prepare you for your current job?

I gained the technical knowledge and confidence to begin my own successful business. http://www.pctechuptime.com. Both technical and elective classes have proven to be very valuable as I meet new people, and carry on daily conversations and business transactions.

My first degree at H.C.C. was a two year M.E.T. (Manufacturing Engineering Technology) transfer degree program where I went on to get a bachelor's degree in that field at a local university here in Western North Carolina.

Additional comments:

More than what I've learned during my degree program at H.C.C. is my improved ability to focus and prioritize daily events. All facets of my life are better because of the highly qualified instructors that I have had an honor to learn from there at H.C.C.!

I look forward to further investing in my education when the opportunity arises.
Best Wishes.

Your work experience:

I’ve been a helpdesk technician with Advanced Data & Network Solutions for a year and a half, beginning immediately after my 2008 graduation. I work with phone systems, networking equipment, administer domains, perform maintenance, clean up virus infections, manage backups, install network cable, resolve system and program errors, and a variety of other duties as the job requires.

How did your degree program at Haywood Community College prepare you for your current job?

There hasn’t been a thing that I learned in my time in the Networking programs that I haven’t been able to apply to my job. The experience I gained from my classes has been invaluable, allowing me to start resolving issues from my very first day of work in the field. I’d recommend the programs to anyone interested in getting a solid foundation in the operation and management of networks.
