Adult High School
The Adult High School program at Haywood Community College offers students the opportunity to complete an actual high school diploma. The program is comprised of students who are at least 16 years of age ranging to adulthood. There is no fee for instruction or materials.
Through careful evaluation of transcripts and an interview with staff, a determination is made regarding the number of high school credits needed and course of study necessary to complete the requirements for an Adult High School diploma. The diploma is issued locally through a partnership between the college and Haywood County Schools.
We a diverse learning community with a student-centered focus designed to engage, motivate, empower and encourage success toward completion of an Adult High School diploma. In College & Career Readiness at Haywood Community College, we are committed to establishing a partnership between student and institution. The cornerstones of this partnership are rooted in shared goal-setting, collaboration and communication.
Traditionally, class sizes are small with students studying at their own pace. Our Instructors strive to create a nurturing and supportive classroom environment where individual progress and successes are celebrated. Faculty and Staff are available to provide students with the educational tools necessary to meet their learning goals.

Our programs teach basic academic and fundamental skills for tomorrow's jobs: problem solving, negotiating, organizing, creative thinking, listening and leadership.
College & Career Readiness Staff are available to support our graduates in their transition to continued education, workforce development and/or renegotiating their position in the workforce. We support our students in building bridges toward a more sustainable future through partnerships and collaborations established by the college.
Where can an Adult High School Program take you?
The diploma is honored and accepted at community colleges, most private colleges, many universities, workforce development programs, the military services, and by employers as being equal to any other high school diploma earned across the nation.
Adult High School Program Information
The first step to enrolling in the Adult High School program at Haywood Community College is to register for an Orientation session by contacting our Administrative Office at (828) 627-4648.
Prospective students 16-17 years of age will be required to meet eligibility requirements in order to participate. For more information about these requirements, please contact our Administrative Office.
Before enrolling in the Adult High School program, you will need an official (unopened) copy of your previous high school transcripts. If you need assistance in getting these transcripts, went to high school outside of Haywood County, or are from a home-school setting, please contact our Administrative Office by calling (828) 627-4648 and we will assist you.
