High School Equivalency (formerly GED)
The High School Equivalency (HSE) program at Haywood Community College offers adults who did not complete a formal high school program the opportunity to earn their high school credential. Our program provides instruction in four subject areas in preparation for taking the official GED® tests. These four subject areas are: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
We are a diverse learning community with a student-centered focus designed to engage, motivate, empower and encourage success toward completion of the HSE diploma. In the College & Career Readiness Department at Haywood Community College, we are committed to establishing a partnership between student and institution. The cornerstones of this partnership are rooted in shared goal-setting, collaboration and communication.
Traditionally, classes are small with students studying at their own pace. Our Instructors strive to create a nurturing and supportive classroom environment where individual's progress and successes are celebrated. Faculty and staff are available to provide students with the educational tools necessary to meet their learning goals.
Building Bridges to a Sustainable Future
Our programs teach basic academic and fundamental skills for tomorrow's jobs: problem solving, negotiating, organizing, creative thinking, listening and leadership.
College & Career Readiness Staff are available to support our graduates in their transition to continued edcuation, workforce development and/or renegotiating their position in the workplace. We support our students in building bridges toward a more sustainable future through partnerships and collaborations established by the college.
