Meet Our Staff

Angie Uhl-Kalev, Lead Counselor

Angie received a B.A. degree in Social Studies Comprehensive-Secondary Education from Malone College in Canton, Ohio. She received a M.ED. from Clemson University in Educational Counseling and Guidance.

Angie is the SGA Co-Advisor, Disability Counselor, and oversees counseling, recruiting, and testing. In addition, she registers special credit students.

Debbie Rowland, Academic and Career Counselor

Debbie received a diploma in Dental Assisting from University of NC, Expanded Duties Dental Assisting from the University of Colorado, an A.A.S. in Vocational Education from Southwestern Community College, B.S. in Health Services Management & Supervision from Western Carolina University, and a M.I.E. in Industrial Education-Two Year College from Western Carolina University.

Debbie provides career counseling , academic advising and registration of special credit students, and advisement for pre--nursing applicants for nursing process.

Emma Dechant, Career Development Specialist

Emma received a B.A. in English from Appalachian State University.

Emma serves as the Co-op Coordinator and Recruiter for HCC. In addition, she provides admissions, academic, and career counseling. She also registers special credit students.

Alicia received a B.A. in Spanish from Western Carolina University and an M.Ed. in College Student Personnel from Western Carolina University.

Alicia schedules appointments for the placement assessments (ACCUPLACER, Biology, and Chemistry) and administers them. She organizes student activities on campus and advises the Student Government Association (SGA).
