What do you want to do?

I want to login to my online Classes

Please remember that you will not be able to login to an online course until the first day of the semester (8:00 AM). If you registered late, it usually takes 1 day from the time that you registered for a course for your online course (Moodle course) to become available. If you registered today, it will not be until tomorrow that you can login to your new course.

Please select one of the following options:

If you are a Curriculum Student (taking a course for college credit), HCC uses Moodle to deliver your online course. To login to Moodle, you should first login to Haywired. Once you login to Haywired, click the Moodle (Online Courses) link in the "Students" section at the left. Important-- be sure that your pop-up blockers are turned off before continuing. If you do not know your Haywired Log In ID or password, or have trouble logging in, or do not know how to turn off pop-up blockers, please click here.

When you click on Moodle (Online Courses), you will be prompted to login. The first time that you login, your password will be the same thing as your username. Your username is the same as your Log In ID for Haywired. The first time you login to Moodle, your password will also be the same thing as your Log In ID for Haywired. In other words, if your Haywired Log In ID is jdsmith, you will type jdsmith twice in order to login to Moodle-- once as your username and once as your password.

It is strongly recommended that you change your Moodle password immediately after you login. To do this, login to Moodle and then click on your name in the upper right. Then scroll down to the "Change password" button at the bottom. We recommend that you make your Moodle password the same as your Haywired password. That way, you'll only have one password to keep track of for all HCC activities. Once you login to Moodle, a list of your courses will open. Simply click on the course that you want to start with.

Why should I login to Haywired before using Moodle?

There are three main reasons to login to Haywired before entering your online courses. First, unless you have used the forwarding filter in your Haywired email, this is where all emails from your teachers or from the college are going. It's important to check your email every day or two.

Second, the college uses Haywired to survey students. You will receive pop-up questionnaires about your classes and about the college in general at various times throughout the semester. We want your feedback, but if you don't login to Haywired, you won't see these surveys and you won't have a chance to give us your input.

Finally, it's a good idea to get used to using Haywired. This is also where you can pay your bills online, register online, access copies of your final course grades and transcripts, and use other online services.

If you are a Continuing Education Student (taking a course NOT for college credit), you may access your courses in one of three ways. Your instructor has probably already told you how to login. Click the appropriate link below.

If you are a TCCC or SCC Region A Nursing Consortium student, we need to produce a username and password for you. Please email to dl@haywood.edu

  • your full name
  • the password that you would like to use for HCC's Moodle site
  • the courses you are taking (please use full course name or course numbers)
  • your email address (if your college provides an email address, please use that one and check it regularly for emails from your instructor)
  • the college you are enrolled at (SCC or TCCC)

Please make the subject of your email "NUR Enrollment."

Within 24 hours (48 hours on weekends), we will create an account for you using this information. We will reply to your email at that time to let you know that the account is ready and how to access it.

Your username will be your first name and last name-- all lowercase with no spaces. For instance, if you are Jane Emily Doe; your username is janedoe.

Your password will be the one that you identify in your email. Be sure to choose a password that others cannot figure out, but that you will not forget. Of course, you can always change it if you wish.

Even if you have used a Haywood course site before, you will still need to email this information to us. Your username and password may be the same. However, we still won't know what courses to put you in unless you email us. If you are already in our system, we will not change an existing password unless you ask us to do so.

To login to your course, click on Moodle at the top of this page. It is recommended that you make that page a "favorite" so that you can easily access it.

If you cannot login to your course site after 24 hours (48 hours on weekends) of emailing us, please let us know. You may contact the Distance Learning Office at dl@haywood.edu or at 828.627.4619.

Please note: Your courses may make reference to "Haywired." Haywired is HCC's online portal. It allows HCC students to pay online, register for courses, etc. It also provides them with an email account. Since you are not officially registered through HCC, you will not have Haywired access. Don't worry about it! Since you will provide an email address in your "NUR Enrollment" email, it is that email address that your courses will link to. You will not need Haywired access.

If you have questions about the Region A Nursing Consortium, please visit the Region A Nursing Consortium home page at http://regionanursing.blogspot.com.

If you are a video conference student at another college who has been given access to a Haywood online course, your username and password will be provided to you by the video conference room coordinator at your college. Please speak to the on-site facilitator of your video conference course if you missed the class meeting when usernames and passwords were given out.

To login to your course, click on Moodle at the top of this page. It is recommended that you make that page a "favorite" so that you can easily access it.

I want to login to Haywired

You will use Haywired to register and pay for classes, to see your final grades, to access your college email, and to login to Moodle courses. You can access Haywired from the HCC home page or at http://prod.campuscruiser.com/haywood/

Your Haywired Log In ID will be your first initial, middle initial and last name-- all lowercase with no spaces. For instance, if you are John Roger Smith; your ID is jrsmith. If you do not have a middle name, or did not provide one when you registered, leave it out of your username. Please note: This should be the same ID that you use for any other HCC login, such as the computers on campus or Moodle.

The first time that you login, your Haywired password will be your birth day as six digits (mmddyy). You will then be prompted to provide some information to Haywired, including selecting a new password. Be sure to choose a password that you will never forget!

If you cannot login to Haywired, it is possible that your Log In ID is unusual or that your birthday is incorrect in our records. Please call 828.565.4009 for assistance.

Important: When you register for a course at HCC, you are provided with a student email account. Your instructors will expect you to check your Haywired email address on a regular basis, so be sure to login to your college email every day or two so that you don't miss important announcements.

Your email address will be your username@mail.haywood.edu

You will access your email through Haywired and then click on the email icon in the upper left that looks like an envelope. If you prefer to use a different email address, login to your Haywired email and set the Forwarding Filter to forward email messages to your preferred account.
