Haywood Community College will hold a joint GED and Adult High School Graduation Ceremony on Friday, February 6 at 7 p.m. in the HCC Charles Beall Auditorium. A February 13 snow and inclement weather date is scheduled. Fifty two students will receive a GED, seventeen of which will graduate with honors. Approximately 14 students will receive Adult High School diplomas.

Guest speaker will be Marc Pruett. Marc Pruett is the Director of Erosion and Sedimentation Control for Haywood County. He is also the banjo player for the bluegrass band, Balsam Range. In the past, Pruett has served on HCC’s Foundation Board.

HCC’s Adult High School Program graduated its first class in 2002. AHS meets at the West Waynesville Center. Day and evening classes are available.

Anyone interested in obtaining a GED may choose from three convenient options: the traditional classroom setting, online classes, and GED Express. GED Express allows busy individuals the chance to fit classes into their schedule in just an evening and a Saturday. After completing the two express classes, students are then ready to take the official GED tests.
