HCC Professional Crafts Clay Program to Participate in Clay Day at Folk Art Center

Haywood Community College Professional Crafts Clay students will participate in Clay Day at the Folk Art Center on Saturday, June 5. Each year the Southern Highland Craft Guild holds the free event to celebrate the craft of the potter. Members of the Southern Highland Craft Guild demonstrate throwing on the potter's wheel and hand building and surface design on clay, among other techniques. This year, HCC will feature a hands-on pottery wheel experience for children. Clay Instructor Steve Lloyd and students from clay program will assist children in making their first pots on the potter’s wheel. This event will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Folk Art Center is located just outside of Asheville at milepost 382 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
