Faculty and staff members at Haywood Community College are making final preparations for the start of summer semester 2008. Prospective students are encouraged to complete the application process as soon as possible. Student Services staff are available to answer questions about the application process, financial aid, or any of HCC’s more than 45 programs of study. Student Services hours are 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Fridays.
Registration for summer semester 2008 is Wednesday, May 21 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Classes for the 10-week session begin on Thursday, May 22. Classes for the 8-week session begin on Friday, June 6.
Basic and advanced Machining Classes will be offered this summer in the Advanced Machining Center at the Regional High Technology Center. Students completing the four basic machining classes, Blueprint Reading, Metrology, Machining and Introduction to CNC will qualify for a Certificate in Machining Technology. Advanced machining classes will also be available, EDM Machining, OMAX Waterjet, Advanced 4/5 Axis, and CAM Software Programming. The advanced classes can produce some course credits toward a Degree in Machining Technology. These classes will be offered over a 5 week period of time beginning on May 27, 2008 and finishing on June 30, 2008. For more information, contact Hilary Cobb, Industrial Specialist, at 564-5107.
