Georgia Price
At age 48, she decided to try something new.
According to Georgia Price, who works in Emergency Room registration at Haywood Regional Medical Center, the more you know, the better person you are. And you can gain knowledge at any age. After working as a custodian and bus driver for the school system, she decided at age 48 to try something she had always wanted to—the medical field. She took Nurse Aide I classes through the continuing education division at Haywood Community College. But she didn’t stop there. She also completed the school’s Nurse Aide II courses. As a result of clinical requirements, she landed her job at HRMC.
Price spent the last four years as an EKG Technician in the Pulmonary Department. “I like working with people and making them smile and feel a little better even when they are sick,” Price said.
Price started her education at HCC at the age of 31 when she completed requirements for a GED. But she’s not finished learning yet. She would like to complete phlebotomy classes offered at HCC.
