JobsNOW “12 in 6”

Haywood Community College is offering several areas of certification as part of the Jobs NOW Project. The project supports specific occupational areas of study that will allow students to complete classes in under 6 months of time and will include workplace readiness skills and completion of a Career Readiness Certificate. JobsNOW is funded under the Workforce Investment Act through funds made available by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. Please call Rinda Green at 828.564.4243 for more information.

In All Courses Students will receive assistance with computer job search techniques, applications, resumes and the opportunity to earn a Career Readiness Certificate.

Medical Office Administration (Must take both terms)

1st Term: August 16-October 11
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8 am - 2:30 pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 10 am - Noon
2nd Term: October 12 - December 14
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: 8 am - 2:30 pm
Thursday: 8 am - Noon
Friday: 10 am - 2:30 pm

Nursing Assistant 1

August 23 - December 29
Monday thru Thursday: 5:30 - 9:30 pm

Phlebotomy Certification

August 18 - October 1
Wednesday thru Friday: 8:30 am - 3 pm. Clinical must be done by December 2.

Green Building Construction

Eight-week program offered August 30, October 11, and November 15

Course includes classroom instruction, hands-on construction site activities involving green building principles and concepts, and employability training.

Cost is $350 for registration and $205 for books. Various forms of financial assistance available.

The JobsNOW Project is offered by the NC Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Development and the North Carolina Community College System. These training programs were selected based on occupational projections reported by the Southwestern Workforce Development Board and are considered the fastest growing sectors from 2009 through 2018 for Haywood County and the region.

Partners for the Jobs NOW Project include: the Southwestern Workforce Development Board, the NC Department of Commerce, the Haywood County Employment Security Commission/JobLink Center, HCC, Haywood County Economic Development Commission, and area industries.
