Twitter Services

We are very excited to offer via Twitter so many of our library services. If you have any suggestions for features we might add to our list, please let us know.

Receive LRC updates, news, and events:

  • Access our profile and click the "Follow" icon.

Request a hold for HCC material:

  • Tweet a private message to HCCLRC with your request. Be as specific as possible, including the title, author, edition, format, and any other relevant information that might help LRC staff locate the book. If possible, include a link to the book. Patrons may use multiple messages, if needed.
  • It is not necessary to include any contact information other than your first name or library ID #. LRC staff will confirm your request by private message to your Twitter account.
  • Requests made during library hours are usually processed by 10:00AM the next business day. Patrons may pick up their materials at the circulation desk.
  • Please do not consider any request filled until you receive confirmation from LRC staff. Multiple requests and requests for certain materials may take longer to process.

Request an Interlibrary Loan:

  • Tweet a private message to HCCLRC with your request. Be as specific as possible, including the title, author, edition, format, and any other relevant information that might help LRC staff locate the book. If possible, include a link to the book.
  • Your request must include at least one of the following: Library ID, Student ID, or full name. Patrons may use multiple messages, if needed.
  • Requests made during library hours are usually processed by 10:00AM the next business day. LRC staff will confirm your request by private message to your Twitter account.
  • Interlibrary Loans may take up to 5-7 business days to arrive. LRC staff will notify you via private message when your materials arrive unless otherwise directed.
  • Please do not consider any request filled until you receive confirmation from LRC staff. Multiple requests and requests for certain materials may take longer to process.

Request a Research Consultation:

  • Tweet a private message to HCCLRC with your request. Please include a name, your class, and a suggested appointment time.
  • Requests made during library hours are usually processed by 10:00AM the next business day. LRC staff will confirm your request by private message to your Twitter account.
  • Please do not consider any appointment final until it is confirmed by LRC Staff.
  • Make sure to schedule your appointment well in advance to ensure staff availability. If you require a same day or next day appointment please call a librarian instead.

Notifications:

  • If you have requested a hold or an Interlibrary Loan through other means but prefer to be notified of your material's arrival via Twitter please contact a librarian before your material's estimated arrival date.

Account Status: Fines, Checkouts, Renewals and Due Dates:

  • Tweet a private message to HCCLRC with your request. Please be sure to include your full name, Library ID, and which service(s) you wish to use. For example, a patron wishing to know the due dates for his/her books would Tweet: "Please check the due dates for John Doe, Library ID # ."
  • If needed, patrons may use multiple messages to request services.
  • Requests made during library hours are usually processed by 10:00AM the next business day. LRC staff will confirm your request by private message to your Twitter account.
  • Patrons may not pay library fines online. Payment must be made in the library by cash or check only. Do not Tweet credit cards, Paypal account numbers, or any confidential information.
  • Patrons who have exceeded their renewal limit or who have their accounts blocked may be unable to renew materials. In these instances a librarian will notify the patron regarding the situation and the steps needed for resolution.
