HCC’s Therapeutic Massage Program prepares students to practice as compassionate and highly competent professionals in their field. Graduates possess a quality of presence and command of technique that sets them apart, and allows them to create a transformative experience for those they touch. Learn cutting edge skills and gain the 600 hours necessary for the National Certification Exam in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, and NC Licensure.

Therapeutic Massage

The Therapeutic Massage curriculum prepares graduates to work in direct client care settings to provide manipulation, methodical pressure, friction and kneading of the body for maintaining wellness or treating alterations in wellness throughout the lifespan.

Courses will include content in normal human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic massage, ethical/legal issues, business practices, nutrition and psychology.

Employment opportunities in North Carolina may be found in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, health departments, home health, medical offices, nursing homes, spas, health and sports clubs, and private practice. Graduates may be eligible to take the National Certification for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

Graduation requires the listed courses, HCC Massage and Body Work Therapy Competencies, NC State Board of Massage and Body Work Therapy requirements, and have a 2.0 GPA or higher before making application to take the licensing exam.
