The Small Business Center of Haywood Community College will offer a free seminar entitled “Cash Flow is the Lifeline of your Business”, Tuesday, February 16, from 6-9 p.m. in the Student Center Building on the campus of Haywood Community College. “My accountant said that I am making a profit and will owe taxes, but I don’t have enough money to pay my bills.” This seems to be the story of many small business owners and managers. Many small businesses focus on the profit and loss and not enough attention is given to the day-to-day flow of cash in and out of their businesses. It is this activity that assures businesses the available cash to properly operate and be successful. This seminar teaches a business owner or manager why the cash flow of their business is so important and where the cash will come from to operate effectively. Topics to be discussed will include:
- How to interpret a cash flow statement and how it differs from a profit and loss statement
- Where to get the needed cash to operate and how to prevent accounts receivables from absorbing all the working capital
- How to collect those unpaid accounts and should I use the Small Claims Court?
This seminar is a must for any business owner or manager to help them understand why cash is so important to the survival of their business especially in slow economic times. The presenter is Harry Ponder, owner of Carolina Business Services in Weaverville. To pre-register for this free seminar, call the Small Business Center at 627-4512.
