Haywood Community College employees donated 700 pounds of food to Manna FoodBank. This food was contributed by faculty and staff at the college’s annual holiday luncheon. In the past, employees have contributed money to local charitable organizations. In the spirit of continuing this tradition and to underscore the commitment that HCC has to Western North Carolina, the college selected the food drive for this year’s mission. According to Nikae Perkinson, chair of the Holiday Luncheon Committee, the response was tremendous. “We were barely able to fit all of the donations in the transportation vehicle. But I am not surprised by the generosity. Service to our community is what motivates us at HCC,” she says.
