Haywood Community College recently held a graduation ceremony for the school’s first Fire Academy. Eight firefighters completed 226 hours of study to receive a Fire Academy certificate.
According to Dee Massey, HCC Fire and Rescue Training Coordinator, “These eight cadets learned how physically demanding it is to be a firefighter and left with the knowledge of what is expected of them to do the job in our communities.”
HCC will offer a Rescue Academy beginning in early January and the next Fire Academy will be offered in April. For more information about either of these academies, please call Dee Massey at 828.627.4247.
