In celebration of National Entrepreneurship Week, Haywood Community College held a week-long schedule of events. These events allowed HCC to focus on the college’s strengths in the areas of entrepreneurship, sustainability and creativity. On Monday, local high school students and Haywood Early College students participated in a Trash to Treasures Hands-on Activity. Students were guided through a fun, hands-on activity to encourage them to consider the importance of entrepreneurship as a career option. There was a Green Business Owners’ Forum on Tuesday. Local representatives from Haywood Builder’s Supply, Champion Supply, and the Animal Hospital of Waynesville spoke to attendees. On Wednesday, HCC’s Department Chair of Creative Arts facilitated an Exploring Creativity event where participants viewed a captivating video about creativity, and were guided in examining the source. Events concluded on Friday with an Alumni Superstars Luncheon where each academic department at HCC had their own alumni superstar to recognize for their accomplishments of opening a successful business in Haywood County.Pictured are participants in Monday’s Trash to Treasure Activity at Haywood Community College in celebration of Entrepreneurship Week.
