HCC Hosted Successful 2008 Mid-Atlantic STIHL™ TIMBERSPORTS® Collegiate Challenge
Haywood Community College and the HCC Lumberjacks recently hosted the 2008 Mid-Atlantic STIHL™ TIMBERSPORTS® Collegiate Challenge sponsored by STIHL(tm) on the college campus. HCC finished second overall with numerous first place finishes.
HCC took first place in: Men's Axe Throw (Max Cox), Female Cross-Cut (Erin Bellavia and Heather Johanson), Jack and Jill crosscut (Nathan Edwards and Erin Bellavia), and Men's Bow Saw (Justin Grose). The 6-man Pulp Toss team also finished in first place with a record time for the HCC team (Christine Litton, James Bentley, Jarrett Guffey, Justin Grose, James Judge, and Austin Keener.
HCC second place finishes included: Archery, Log Roll, Orienteering, Dendrology, Water Boil, Female Chainsaw, and Female Bowsaw.

HCC student Jarrett Guffey finished first place in the Pulp Toss event.

HCC student Josh “Tiny” Roten competes in the Horizontal Speed Chop. He took third place overall in the 2008 Mid-Atlantic STIHL™ TIMBERSPORTS® Collegiate Challenge.


HCC students Nathan Edwards and Erin Bellavia finished first in the Jack and Jill Cross Cut Saw event.
