Haywood Community College is offering two new training programs through Governor Bev Purdue’s JobsNOW “12 in 6” initiative that will provide students trade knowledge and technical skills in the areas of Early Childhood Teacher’s Aide Certification and Office Assistant Certification. These classes run March 2 through May 6.

The JobsNOW Early Childhood Teacher’s Aide Certification Program will focus on the technical skills to become an Early Childhood Teacher’s Aide along with the skills necessary to enter today’s competitive workforce and secure a positive career future. Graduates will receive their state certificate to work in the child care field, along with CPR and First Aid cards.

The JobsNOW Office Assistant Certification will give students skills in general office operations, secretarial techniques, basic computer skills, keyboarding, spreadsheet creation, and introduction to internet.

Both classes include WorkPlace Readiness skills in communication, customer service, teamwork, organization, time management, and nationally-recognized Career Readiness Certification. Students will also acquire the tools to find a job: job search skills, resume-writing, and interview techniques.

JobsNOW is funded under the Workforce Investment Act through funds made available by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the Department of Commerce, Division of Workforce Development and the local Workforce Development Board.
