The Small Business Center of Haywood Community College will offer a free seminar entitled “ If I Only had a Brain…Critical Thinking Skills” on Wednesday morning, April 30 from 9-11 a.m. on campus in the Student Center, first floor. The workplace is changing, and administrative assistants are called on continuously to display the ability to analyze information and demonstrate good judgment in decision-making.  The multiple roles that today’s assistants assume in the office require flexible thinking and willingness to learn new skills and process information quickly.  The International Association of Administrative Professionals says that today’s professional assistants must “have the willingness to learn and grow, and accept challenges.”

This interactive session will focus on how we can learn to use our natural abilities to think critically and solve problems. Explore:

  • Characteristics of a critical thinker
  • Two essential criteria for critical thinking
  • Barriers to critical thinking in the workplace
  • Six-step model for problem-solving
  • Reminders for effective problem-solving
