HCC Ranked Number Six in US for Most Affordable Online Early Childhood Education Degrees

Haywood Community College was recently ranked by OnlineU as offering one of the most affordable college online degrees in early childhood education. The study rates HCC as number six in the nation for 2014 for the most affordable colleges for online early education degrees. The report includes degrees ranging from associate to graduate degrees at the master’s and doctorate levels and is based on HCC’s out of state tuition rates. 

“Haywood Community College’s Early Childhood program graduates knowledgeable professionals who have the essential skills and field experience to effectively educate children and support diverse families,” says Wendy Hines, HCC Dean of Health and Human Services. “Many of our students are already employed within early learning centers and are committed to increasing their knowledge. Providing the program within the online format allows students to remain employed full time while completing their degrees. We offer a variety of certificates and associate degree tracks that allows students to match their educational experience with their career goals.”

About 400 students are enrolled annually at HCC in Early Childhood programs. From 2010 through 2013, more than 260 degrees, diplomas, and certificates were awarded to graduates in the Early Childhood and related fields at HCC.

HCC students can pursue an Associate degree with three tracks of study: Early Childhood Education, Administration, or Special Education. In addition, students can choose from five certificates:  Early Childhood, Early Childhood Administration, Special Education, Infant/Toddler, or School-Age Education.
