HCC to Celebrate National Entrepreneurship Week

National Entrepreneurship Week is February 17 through 21 and Haywood Community College is celebrating with a week-long schedule of events.  All of these events are open to the public.

Following is a schedule of events:

Date:  Monday, February 17

Event:  HCC Student Business Center Open House

Location:  Center for New and Expanding Business, located across from the Regional High Technology Center

Time:  12-1:30 p.m.

Summary: Take a tour, learn about the program, and meet the current student tenants, Megan and Chris, owners of The Waynesville Soda Jerks.

 

Date:  Tuesday, February 18

Event:  Objectified

Location:  HCC Auditorium

Time:  12:30 p.m.

Summary: On-campus showing of Objectified. This documentary highlights the importance and impact of product design in our fast-paced culture. It will encourage viewers to think about how to get their product noticed.

 

Date:  Wednesday, February 19

Event:  Small Business Administration’s Twitter Chat, “Startup Advice Young Entrepreneurs Love”

How:  Hashtag: #sbaEweek

Time:  3-4 p.m.

 

Date:  Thursday, February 20

Event:  Start-Up or Buy-Out:  Beginning Your Career as an Entrepreneur

Location:   HCC Auditorium

Time:  11 a.m.

Summary:  Join guest lecturer Tom Muncy, a business broker, as he discusses the attributes of entrepreneurs and the decision to start your own business or buy an existing business.   

 

Date:  Friday, February 21

Event:  Craft Entrepreneurship in Appalachia

Location:   HCC Creative Arts Building Room 7105

Time:  9 a.m.

Summary: HCC Small Business Center Director Katy Gould and HCC Entrepreneurship Instructor Meredith Carpenter will present their findings from the National Association of Community College Entrepreneurship Summit on Regional Crafts.
