HCC to Celebrate National Entrepreneurship Week

National Entrepreneurship Week is February 19 through 26 and Haywood Community College is celebrating this with a week-long schedule of events. These events will allow HCC to focus on the college’s strengths in the areas of entrepreneurship, sustainability and creativity.

Following is a schedule of events:

 

Date: Monday, February 21, 2011

Event: HCC Campus Wide Entrepreneurship Essay Contest

Time: 8:00 a.m. deadline for submissions

Topic: The Entrepreneur That You Admire the Most

Prize: $200 for first place

           $100 for second place, and

           $50 for third place

Facilitator: Clayton Couch, English Instructor

Audience: All currently enrolled HCC Students

 

Date: Monday, February 21, 2011

Event: Dollar Scholar and Meet the Benjamins

Location: HCC Auditorium

Time: 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Facilitator: Arlene Childers and Malinda Todd of North Carolina

                       REAL Enterprises

Audience: Haywood Early College and local high school students

 

Date: Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Event: Showcase for Student Entrepreneurs

Location: HCC Library

Time: 12:00-12:45 p.m.

Prize: $200 for first place

           $100 for second place, and

           $50 for third place

Facilitator: Meredith Carpenter, Entrepreneurship Instructor

Audience: Open to the public.

Event: eBay Your Way to Success

Location:   RHTC Auditorium

Time: 6:00 -9:00 p.m.

Facilitator: Nick Hawks, Education Specialist Trained by eBay

Audience: Open to the public.

Event: Business Plan Basics

Location:   HCC Auditorium

Time: 6:00 -9:00 p.m.

Facilitator: Clark Fields, SBTDC Business Counselor

Audience: Open to the public.

Event: Award Recognition Ceremony

Location:   HCC Library

Time: 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Audience: Open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
