HCC to Offer Night Basic Law Enforcement Training Class
Haywood Community College will offer a Night Basic Law Enforcement Training Class beginning September 12, 2011. This course is designed to equip the student with the basic skills, knowledge and ability to function as an inexperienced law enforcement officer in the State of North Carolina.
The course is composed of blocks of instruction with a State specified minimum number of hours set for each of the blocks. The total number of course hours required for this certification is set by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
The night class meets Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for approximately seven months. The class will also meet a few weekends to accommodate the appropriate required classes. Applications are currently being accepted and all necessary paperwork must be returned by September 7, 2011.
“The night classes have been some of the most dedicated students,” explains Dee Parton, HCC Director of Workforce Development. “The night class allows individuals to work during the day and come to school at night."
