Policy 3.13: Equal Employment Opportunity
Haywood Community College will offer equal opportunity to all employees, students and applicants for employment and student membership without regard to race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, age or personal disability. The administration of Haywood Community College will assume the responsibility for the development and implementation of a policy of equal opportunity with regard to recruitment, hiring, training and promotion of persons in all job classifications at the College and for the development and implementation of a policy of equal opportunity with regard to recruitment, admission, access to and treatment in curricula and extracurricular programs and activities, and treatment under regulations and policies governing benefit services, conduct, and dress for students.
All personnel policies, such as compensation, benefits, transfers, leaves, and social and recreational programs will be administered on a nondiscriminatory basis. It is the policy of Haywood Community College to offer employment opportunities to qualified members of all groups in society. However, the College recognizes that certain groups, particularly minority groups and women, may have suffered disadvantages in the national employment market in the past. In an effort to assist members of these groups in gaining increased employment opportunities, HCC will make positive, good faith efforts to recruit, employ and promote qualified members of minority groups and women. Also, it will make positive, good faith efforts to recruit and enroll, as students, members of minority groups and women. Such effort shall not, however, entail a conferral of advantage on any person because of race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, age or personal disability.
