Policy 3.19: Parking and Traffic

Effective Date: Sun, Mar 09, 1986

Amended Date: Tue, May 13, 1986

The Administration of Haywood Community College is authorized by North Carolina law to regulate and govern the use of motor vehicles on campus. Student parking areas as well as faculty and staff parking areas are designated on the campus, and speed limits are as posted or advertised. All student, faculty, and staff vehicles which will be operated and parked on campus are required to be registered with the College immediately upon registration of a new student or upon a new employee assuming duties. Registration is necessary when an individual changes cars and/or at the beginning of each academic year.

Tow-Away Policy

All vehicles that are in violation of rules, regulations, and ordinances concerning tow-away zones shall be given a warning ticket by the Campus Security Department. A second violation will result in the vehicle being towed away at the owner's expense. Vehicles will be impounded and, before release, payment must be made to HCC's authorized agent for towing expenses. Vehicles will be towed away for:

  1. Blocking drives
  2. Creating safety hazards
  3. Blocking loading zones, dumpsters, visitor parking zones, and handicapped zones
  4. Parking on grass
  5. Parked in clearly marked tow-away zones
