Policy 3.24: Removal of Board of Trustees Member

In accordance with NC Law (NCGS115D-19, Removal of trustees), the State Board of Community Colleges or the Board of Trustees of Haywood Community College may follow due process to remove a member for cause. Cause includes inability to discharge duties, disreputable conduct, failure to attend, without justifiable reason, three (3) consecutive scheduled meetings and failure of a newly appointed Board member to participate in, without justifiable reason, an orientation session sponsored by the NC Association of Community College Trustees within six (6) months of being appointed. Cause may also include failure to abide by the requirements of the State Ethics Act (NCGS138A) and its related standards of ethical conduct, conflicts of interest, and undue influence.
