Policy 3.4: Autobody Operation and Fee Policy

  1. Each curriculum student enrolled in an Autobody course pays a shop fee of $35.00 per vehicle to cover expendable items such as wiping cloths, sandpaper, etc. Paint and body filler and all other materials for repair must be paid for by the student. This money is collected by the instructors within the Autobody program and turned in to the Secretary. The work order will be revised, signed, and sent with the money to Administrative Services. Administrative Services will send back to us a receipt to be given to the student. A temporary receipt may be given to the student turning in cash. A copy of this receipt must be maintained on file within the Division. Students taking Autobody courses through continuing education will pay the fee set by the Director of Continuing Education for the class.
  2. Only vehicles belonging to the student or his/her immediate family may be used as a project for painting and repair in these classes. Where a student does not have a project that meets these guidelines, a project vehicle will be assigned, as available, by the instructor. This vehicle may belong to the college, an employee of the college, or someone in the community. No fee of any type is allowed to be charged or accepted by the student for his/her work on the vehicle.
  3. No shop fee will be charged for HCC vehicles. Paint and supplies are charged to the budget of the department owning the vehicle, or as assigned by the Vice President of Academics.
  4. The "shop fee" for ALL HCC employees shall be $35.00 per vehicle with no favoritism shown by division or position. All other persons within the community will continue to pay the $100 per vehicle shop fee. All other charges for paint and supplies will be charged to the owner separately.
  5. All persons not enrolled as Autobody students wishing to have their vehicle painted or repaired should call 627-4630 and add the ir name to the list. The secretary will coordinate with the Autobody Instructors to insure vehicles will be attended to as soon as possible. HCC vehicles will continue to be repaired and painted on a "priority" basis.
  6. All vehicles being repaired and/or painted must meet the guidelines of "educational" and must be a learning experience for the student.
