Policy 5.3: Student Right to Know
The Student Right To Know and Campus Security Act Public Law (101-542) and as amended by Public Law (102-26) requires Haywood Community College to produce and make readily available, upon request, to enrolled and prospective students, the graduation or persistence rate of selected groups of students.
When reviewing the report of graduation and persistence rates, please note that the Student Right To Know guidelines only focus on a very small percentage of entering students (i.e., first-time, full-time, degree seeking students who entered only in the fall quarter).
Information Available in the Report
- The period of time covered by each report is the one-year period ending on June 30 of the preceding year.
- The group of students selected each fall quarter for this report are first-time undergraduate students, enrolled in 12 or more credit hours, and enrolled in a degree or diploma program.
- The persistence rate is the percentage of the students from the selected group who are re-enrolled each successive year until completion or graduation.
- The graduation rate is composed of students from this selected group who completed their course of study within 150% of the normal time required for the curriculum.
The report of graduation/persistence is available in the Coordinator of Records and Registration’s Office located on the upper level of the Student Center.
