Policy 6.13: Holidays

Haywood Community College observes legal holidays not to exceed the number provided for state employees. This will normally be eleven holidays per year.

The President of the institution shall establish the legal holiday schedule. Input may be solicited from the faculty and staff with the final decision being made by the President.

The usual legal holidays are as follows:

  • New Years 1 day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day 1 day
  • Good Friday 1 day
  • Memorial Day 1 day
  • Independence Day 1 day
  • Labor Day 1 day
  • Veteran’s Day 1 day
  • Thanksgiving 2 days
  • Christmas 6 days
