President Search

The Board of Trustees invites applications and nominations for the position of president of Haywood Community College. The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer and reports directly to the appointed thirteen member board.

Established more than 45 years ago, Haywood Community College offers accessible educational, social, and cultural opportunities to residents of Haywood County, NC and the surrounding area.

Through its open-door policy, the College strives to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, resources, interests, abilities, and career goals. HCC currently offers over 45 programs of study and provides a variety of quality programs and services. As a community college, Haywood endeavors to reflect state, national, and global trends in its educational programs and to serve the surrounding community by fostering economic growth and promoting sustainable practices and environmental awareness. The college plays a key role in work-force development in the county and region and encourages students to develop abilities in problem solving, leadership, critical thinking, creativity and entrepreneurship.

Located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, the main campus is a designated arboretum known for the beauty of its grounds and many gardens. HCC’s other assets include the Golden LEAF Advanced Machining Center; a 328 acre tract of land located at Balsam Gap through a generous gift from the Conservation Fund; the Fowler Conservancy and Teaching Forest; and the Beaty Natural Resources Classroom.

Presidential Profile

Qualifications Required:

  • Earned Doctorate Degree from an accredited College or University preferred, Earned Master’s Degree from an accredited College or University required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of senior level community or technical college leadership experience or equivalent required.

  1. A letter of interest not to exceed five pages addressing the items on the presidential profile
  2. A current resume
  3. Information and Reference Form (choose format): Adobe PDF or MS Word

Nominations and applications may be accepted until the position is filled. To ensure full consideration, all requested application materials must be received by 4:00 p.m. (EDST) April 16, 2012. Pease allow ample time for delivery. Applicants assume full responsibility for the method of delivery selected and any resulting delays in delivery. The “letter of interest” and “resume” may be transmitted by email or regular mail. The Information and Reference Form must contain an original signature and be dated therefore it must be transmitted via regular mailed.
