Heroic Myth & Gilgamesh

Heroic Myth & Gilgamesh

A heroic figure with axes wearing a viking like helmet and armour. Instructor: Andrew Peterson

Location: ONLINE/REMOTE  Tuition: 140.00

The Epic of Gilgamesh is the first of the heroes’ journeys in literature. Like any great work of literature, Gilgamesh tells us about ourselves. It is the exploration of the self and an understanding of how our actions shape both our lives and the lives of those around us. It is the discovery of self-control, basic goodness and wisdom – all learned through some hard lessons. Inscribed on clay tablets, the first great masterpiece of world literature is itself a text about exploring the world and the Self. Through a close reading of the text, we can see that mankind has not changed as much as we might like to think.  Instructor: Andrew Peterson
