Steps To Take When Your Identity Has Been Stolen

According to the NC Department of Justice, victims of identity theft should do the following:

  1. File a Police Report
  2. Close the Affected Accounts
  3. Notify the Credit Bureaus
  4. Notify the Federal Trade Commission
  5. Send creditors a copy of your ID Theft Report.
