Workforce Continuing Education provides learning opportunities by offering a wide variety of classes to support economic development and the advancement of continued adult learning. Through a variety of community assessments, our programs are designed to meet the needs of higher academic education by providing job training and retraining, further enhancing our students personal and professional growth. The Workforce Continuing Education Division develops concepts and ideas for lifelong learning by examining the needs of the citizens, businesses, and industries throughout our area. Courses are offered both on and off campus in various formats at a variety of times, days, and locations to accommodate members of the public. The different platforms of learning include traditional lecture, hands on learning technique, and internet-based classrooms.
Haywood Community College is the primary center for both training the area’s workforce and for providing direct assistance to small business development. Haywood Community College partners with the following organizations to ensure economic development in Haywood County; Haywood County Economic Development Commission, Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, and WNC Advanced Machining Center Project. The partnerships are designed to attract new industry to the area, retain existing industry and build an environment that fosters economic growth and prosperity.
Busines and Industry Services
Services provided through Workforce's Business and Industry Department includes: Occupational Continuing Education, Workforce Training, and specialized industry training. The courses are accredited through the North Carolina Community College System. The Customized Training Program has been in effect for over 40 years and Haywood Community College has been offering such programs to citizens as they assess and build upon their work-related skills. Through our Business and Industry Training Division, participants can upgrade skills, develop new abilities, and prepare for licensures and certification. The Business and Industry Division at Haywood Community College offers a tailored set of employee training courses to enable a workforce member to excel in their position. NC Manufacturing Extension Partnership Success
Our Success since 2000, NCMEP efforts have resulted in $3.6 billion in economic benefit to the State of North Carolina. NCMEP is one of 60 federal Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) organizations nationwide chartered to help medium size and smaller manufacturers compete and grow. NCMEP is administered by the NC State Industry Expansion Solutions and is joined by partners from North Carolina Community College System, NCWorks Customized Training Program, Economic Development Partnership of NC (EDPNC), Polymers Center of Excellence, Manufacturing Solutions Center, Energy Solutions, North Carolina A & T State University, and UNC Charlotte.
