EMS Certification Training

Medical Responder Course

  • GED/HS Diploma or successful completion of a TABE reading comprehension evaluation  at a 10th grade level

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Initial Course:

  • GED/HS Diploma or successful completion of a TABE reading comprehension evaluation  at an 11th grade level
  • A minimum of 24 hours of field rotations required

 

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Initial Course:

  • GED/HS diploma required
  • Successful completion of the following TABE evaluations at the 12.9+ level:   reading comprehension, language, and total mathematics
  • Physical exam, Immunizations, Drug Screening, and Criminal background check required
  • A minimum of 96 hours of clinical/field rotations required

 

Paramedic Initial Course:

  • GED/HS diploma required
  • Successful completion of the following TABE evaluations at the 12.9+ level:   reading comprehension, language, and total mathematics
  • Physical exam, Immunizations, Drug Screening, and Criminal background check required
  • A minimum of 340 hours of clinical/ field rotations required

 

 

TABE Testing

  • Our current testing times are Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings.  We have plenty of open testing spots to handle your classes.  Please have potential TABE testers call 627-4700 to reserve a Tuesday evening or a Monday morning testing slot. https://www.haywood.edu/counseling/placement-testing

ONLINE BLS and ALS Continuing Education for EMS and Prehospital Personnel

  • Monthly courses are held online for BLS and ALS level EMS and Prehospital personnel.  Credit hours are granted upon successful completion of course requirements.  A great way to catch up on those required CE hours!  Please  email HCC-EMSTraining@haywood.edu to be added to our monthly email list.

 

ONLINE Critical Care Continuing Education for EMS and Prehospital Personnel

  • Monthly courses are held online for Critical Care level EMS and prehospital personnel. Credit hours are granted upon successful completion of the course requirements.  To be added to this list, please email                                       HCC-EMSTraining@haywood.edu.  

 

CPR/First Aid/ACLS/ACLS EP/PALS

  • HCC is Haywood County’s American Heart Association Training Center.
  • COMMUNITY First Aid and CPR classes are held the third Wednesday of every month from 6-10 PM at Haywood Community College’s West Waynesville Training Facility located at 23 Hendrix Street, Waynesville NC 28786, accross from Walmart.
  • PROFESSIONAL CPR classes held monthly as well.
