VIDEOCONFERENCE ADOPTION FAIR TO BE HELD AT HCC HIGH TECHNOLOGY CENTER
Haywood Community College High Technology Center is one of four sites that will be part of an Adoption Fair Videoconference on Thursday, November 4. The videoconference will be held from 5:30–7:30 p.m.
The adoption fair is being held in conjunction with the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services and marks the state’s celebration of Adoption Awareness Month. In the videoconference, families at three locations around the state will have the opportunity to meet and talk with children who are waiting to be adopted.
According to Lois Nilsen, Public Affairs Officer for the State Department of Health and Human Services, thirty children who are available for adoption will be on site at the N.C. Community College System Office. The children range in age from 8-13 years of age.
Prospective parents will be at Haywood Community College, Clyde, N.C.; Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, N.C.; and Guilford Technical Community College, Jamestown, N.C.
Nilsen said that these children are in foster care and are often part of a sibling group. Use of the Information Highway as a means of introducing these children to prospective parents is an exciting experience for the children and the families. Approximately 50 families looking to adopt have signed up to take part in the videoconference.
