HCC INSTRUCTORS EXHIBIT WORK IN RALEIGH SHOW
A collaborative piece of art by Bob Gibson and Wayne Raab is included in an exhibit at the North Carolina Community College System Office in Raleigh. It will be on display at the Caswell Building location throughout the coming year. The System Office exhibit features works from most North Carolina community colleges.
The untitled artwork by Gibson and Raab is a wall-hung platter form made of lathed turned maple. The outside is painted with a textured black paint while the interior is a mosaic of painted canvas geometric shapes using extremely bright colors. The platter form is mounted on the wall with a disk that allows the piece to turn so that it may be viewed from different angles.
Bob Gibson, HCC design and photography instructor, created and applied the image and Wayne Raab, HCC woodworking instructor, made the turned wood form.
