Raab Exhibits Work in Guild Show
Wayne Raab, Haywood Community College woodworking instructor, is one of the exhibiting artists in the Chair Show 4, a national juried show sponsored by the Southern Highland Craft Guild. According to the Guild, this show has gained wide respect from artists, museums, and critics as an exhibition that seeks to explore, not only what is new with the chair form, but also how to place those forms into the complex history of chairs.
The exhibition opened in Asheville but now is currently on the road. It has traveled to the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin and will be at the Wellington B. Gray Gallery, East Carolina University from June 6 to September 21, 2002; and at the High Point Museum and Historical Park, High Point, N.C. from October 8, 2002 through January 5, 2003.
Raab’s work is titled "Stool" and is made out of plywood, ash, paint and leather. It is 40" x 22" x 20".
