HCC PTK BRINGS HOME TEN AWARDS FROM REGIONAL CAROLINAS CONVENTION

Haywood Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Alpha Lambda Mu Chapter brought home 10 awards from the Regional Carolinas Convention held in Charleston, SC on March 14, 2003 through March 16, 2003.

PTK is an honor society for two-year college students. Requirements for membership include accumulation of at least 12 semester hours, grade point average of 3.3 or higher, and established excellence as judged by the faculty. Members must maintain at least a 3.2 GPA after induction into the organization.

Joseph Fox, Office Systems Technology instructor, and Rose Miller, part-time employee, are PTK club advisors. Fox and Miller both received the Horizon Awards to Advisors. Kim Odum, Office Sytems Technology student and PTK secretary, won two awards. They were Communications Award and Hall of Honors Award 2003.

The remainder of the awards consisted of Five Star Chapter, Service Project Award, Scholarship Hallmark, Leadership Hallmark, Services Hallmark, and Best Use of Honors Topic.
