HCC TO HOLD INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN NURSING
Haywood Community College will hold three information sessions for anyone interested in obtaining an associate degree in nursing. The sessions will be held in Room 920 of the Nursing Building on the HCC campus. The dates for the 2003 sessions are April 28, June 23, and November 3. All sessions will begin at 7:00 p.m.
According to the February 1998 American Association of Colleges of Nursing Bulletin, "By 2015, 14,000 jobs for full-time registered nurses will go unfilled nationwide." The average age of nurses continues to increase meaning many will soon face retirement. According to the February 2001 issue of Nursing Management, "the average age of registered nurses has increased from 42.4 to 44 years since 1996 and employment for registered nurses will grow faster than the average for all United States occupations through 2008.
Many questions will be answered at the sessions such as how to apply for the program, what courses are required, and is nursing the right career choice. This is a great opportunity to explore the nursing field and ask any questions. Registration is not required.
