2003 REGION A NURSING CONSORTIUM PINNING CEREMONY HELD ON HCC CAMPUS
The 2003 Region A Nursing Consortium Pinning Ceremony was held on Saturday, May 10, 2003 in the HCC Auditorium. There were a total of 34 nursing graduates pinned. Eleven of these are HCC students, 13 are from Southwestern Community College, and 10 are from Tri-County Community College.
Dr. Nathan Hodges, HCC President, welcomed everyone to the event. Michael Conard provided music and piano accompaniment. Susan Mauney, a faculty member of the Region A Nursing Consortium from Tri-County Community College, sang Leann Womack’s song "I Hope You Dance." The speaker for the ceremony was Sherry McCulley Hall, a Haywood Community College Region A Nursing Consortium faculty member. McCulley Hall spoke of how the nursing students’ definition of caring changed from when they entered the program two years ago until completing the program. The students presented a video of appreciation to family and friends for their support throughout the two-year program. The class representative speaker was Norma Jean Lovedahl from Tri-County Community College.
The Region A Nursing Consortium Class of 2003 included the following students from Haywood Community College: Pamela Coward; Laurie Garland; Candice Gibson; Jennifer Greene; Treye Kennedy; Jane Lancaster; Mary Naegle; Carole Norris; Amy Penland; Katie Seigle; and Charity Sharp. Students from Southwestern Community College consisted of: Deborah Auger; Jasmine Bak; Brenda Bennett; Melissa Blalock; Laura Dodd; Brandi Frizzell; Jessica Giaimo; Brandie Haney; Susan Hester; Richard Hotchkiss; Jennifer Kelly; Anne Reinert; and April Smith Ross. Students from Tri-County Community College included: Lynae Cody; Rebecca Keim; Norma Jean Lovedahl; Robin Mason; Amanda McNabb; Traci Pepper; Selena Roberts; Leanne Siller; Sandi Johnson Smith; and Melinda Teesateskie.
