HCC SWEARS IN THREE NEW TRUSTEES
Three new trustees were recently sworn in as members of the Haywood Community College Board of Trustees. Mark Bumgarner, Terry Rogers, and Jessica Proctor assumed their new roles in August. Bumgarner and Rogers will serve four-year terms and Proctor will serve one year.
The Haywood County Commissioners appointed Mark Bumgarner to the board. Bumgarner has lived in Haywood County for over 20 years. He and his wife, Mary Gaye, have two daughters, Susan and Stacey. Bumgarner is a graduate of Appalachian State University and is a certified public accountant with Ray, Bumgarner, Kingshill and Associates, PA in Waynesville. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Waynesville and the Haywood Advancement Foundation Board.
Terry Rogers was appointed to the board by the Haywood County Board of Education. Rogers is a lifelong resident of Haywood County. He and his wife, Frances, have one grandchild. Rogers is an HCC and Western Carolina University graduate. He is a self-employed cattle farmer and a member of the WNC Beef Commission and the Cattleman’s Association. He is also a member of Haywood County Farm Bureau.
Jessica Proctor was appointed to the board as president of the Student Government Association. Proctor has two children and is a student in the Information Systems/Network Administration and Support program. Proctor will graduate in May 2004. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and is an HCC tutor.
Governor Michael Easley reappointed Larry Leatherwood for another four-year term. Leatherwood has served as a trustee for the past four years.
