HCC’S PHI THETA KAPPA INTERNATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY WINS TWELVE AWARDS
Several members of Haywood Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society competed in the Carolinas Regional Convention, "Celebrating Carolinas Rising Stars," March 12-14, 2004, in Charlotte, NC. Members walked away with twelve awards.
HCC PTK members on hand to receive the awards were Linda Sluder, current HCC PTK president; Kim Odum, former president; and Christina Rhinehart. Mrs. Rebekah Medford, Kim Odum’s mother, and Mr. Joseph Fox, HCC PTK Advisor accompanied the three members.
HCC Phi Theta Kappa received the following awards:
Pinnacle Award, for increased membership; Five-Star Status, the highest level a chapter can reach; Scholarship Hallmark Award, for projects promoting scholarship activities; Leadership Award, for projects promoting leadership activities; Communications Award, for consistent communications with the Regional Office; Distinguished Chapter Award, for excelling in all PTK Hallmark areas; Carolina Superstar Chapter Award, for supporting Regional projects; Four Clover Service Chapter Award, for support of the American Cancer Society projects; Hall of Honor-Linda Sluder, recognized for work as Chapter President; Hall of Honor-Pamela Mathis, recognized for work as Chapter Secretary; Hall of Honor-Jay Moose, recognized as outstanding member; and Horizon Award-Joseph Fox, recognized for work as Chapter Advisor.
