HCC’S NEW REGIONAL CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER GETS DONATION FROM SOME OF ITS YOUNGEST SUPPORTERS
The children at HCC’s current Child Development Center recently made a donation to HCC’s new Regional Model Child Development Center, presenting Dr. Nathan Hodges, HCC President, with a piggy bank full of money. The bank had $362 in it that was raised by the children themselves. The entire daycare pitched in for a Children’s Art and Bake Sale. Framed artwork by the children was sold on campus, as well as baked goods and lemonade. The event was a huge success. The artwork can be seen on display throughout the campus.
According to HCC Foundation Executive Director Laura Leatherwood, construction will begin on the center later this year and contributions continue to come in. The new Regional Model Child Development Center will offer evening and after school programs. The 20,300 square foot center will serve 163 children, including 24 much needed spaces for infants. The center will provide distance educational opportunities for childcare professionals across the county and region, as well as provide a model teaching facility for the training of childcare workers. It will also be a family resource for counseling and training in parenting and family issues.
For more information about the Regional Model Child Development Center, or the capital campaign, please contact the HCC Foundation Office at 627-4544.
