HCC REGIONAL MODEL CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER RECEIVES CONTRIBUTION FROM CENTRAL CAROLINA BANK
The Haywood Community College Regional Model Child Development Center has received a $2,500 contribution from Central Carolina Bank.
"CCB feels that every community is entitled to access to quality child care facilities. I am pleased that CCB chooses to help our community by supporting the HCC Regional Model Child Development Center." Susan Sorrells, branch manager and vice president of Central Carolina Bank in Waynesville, NC says. "I particularly like the fact that the center will be open to families of all income levels."
The new HCC Regional Model Child Development Center will serve 163 children, including 24 much needed spaces for infants. The 20,300 square foot center will offer day, evening and after school programs. The center will provide distance educational opportunities for childcare professionals across the county and region, as well as provide a model teaching facility for the training of childcare workers. It will also be a family resource for counseling and training in parenting and family issues. Situated on the HCC campus, the center is designed to foster growth and creativity while drawing upon the beauty of its natural surroundings.
According to HCC Foundation Executive Director Laura Leatherwood, construction will begin on the center later this year. For more information about the Regional Model Child Development Center, or the capital campaign, please contact the HCC Foundation Office at 627-4544.
