FOUNDATION BOARD ELECTS NEW CHAIRMAN AND VICE-CHAIRMAN
The HCC Foundation Board of Directors recently elected William "Bill" Bird, Jr. as Chairman and Steve Kaufman as Vice-Chairman of the Foundation Board.
Bird has lived in Waynesville for over 30 years. He is married to Cynthia Bird and has two sons, David and Michael. He is practice administrator at Mountain Eye Associates.
Bird has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration from Western Carolina University. He is currently enrolled in the master’s entrepreneurship program at WCU. He is a member of the Haywood Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and the Waynesville Rotary Club.
Kaufman has been a Waynesville resident for over 40 years. He is married to Karen Kaufman and has one son, Sam. He is president of Reece, Noland, & McElrath Engineers.
Kaufman received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering form North Carolina State University. He recently became an Accredited Professional in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design with the US Green Building Council. Kaufman is a member of Waynesville Rotary, the Haywood Literacy Council, Haywood Advancement Foundation, and the American Council of Engineering Companies.
The HCC Foundation exists to aid, strengthen, and further the work and service of HCC. It assists the College to secure necessary and timely financial support unavailable through its traditional public funding sources.
