Small Business Center to Offer Workshop on

Debt Collection and Credit

The Small Business Center of Haywood Community College will offer a free seminar entitled "Debt Collection and Credit" on January 24, from 6-9 p.m. in the Student Center Building on the campus of Haywood Community College. Unfortunately, paying bills late has become a standard way of doing business for the individual consumer and for many firms of all sizes. As a business owner, this can affect your cash flow and your bottom line if court settlement is involved. In this workshop, accounts receivables as a source of cash flow will be discussed. You'll learn how to set collection policies that work and how to locate debtors, prevent bad checks, and run credit checks. You'll explore nine proven steps in collecting debts and evaluate collection agencies and legal options for collecting bad debts. The presenter is Harry Ponder, founder of Carolina Business Services, Weaverville, N.C., a business solutions company, specializing in business planning, supervisory and management development. To preregister for this free seminar, call the Small Business Center at 627-4512.
