Mike Collins Returns to HCC on January 10

Mike Collins, president of The Perfect Workday Company based in Raleigh, will kick off Haywood Community College's Small Business Center winter schedule on January 10. Mike has presented over 1,500 programs for organizations such as American Express, Pepsi-Cola and the Duke University Medical Center and his articles have appeared in Newsweek and American Banker. He is a popular speaker with much insight and humor.

On Tuesday, January 10, from 6-9 p.m. "Best Businesses to Start Right Now" will be offered. What would be the best small business for you to start right now? Attend this seminar to help answer that question. Topics will include: "Hot" businesses that will grow in the coming years; 5 easy-to-use steps to starting a business; and business plan do's and don'ts. If you think the time is right for you to start a business…you may be right!

On Wednesday morning, January 11, from 9:00 a.m. until noon, Collins returns for "The Stress Solution". Stress is linked to 60 to 95% of all illness and disease. Only five minutes of heavy stress can impair your immune system for up to six hours. Nearly one-fifth of all occupational health claims are for job stress. Stress saps energy and motivation, promotes irritability, conflict and mistrust. This makes cooperation virtually impossible. Stress causes confusion, mistakes and poor judgment calls. When you are uptight, you actually repel others. The good news is stress can work for you- for greater health, productivity and profits. You can take charge of stress and gain more vitality, clarity, and optimum performance.

Both workshops will be held on campus in the Student Center, First Floor. For more information or to preregister for either or both of these free seminars, call the Small Business Center at 627-4512.
